Final Candidates

Candidates are Selected

The hiring authority and selection committee will recommend their top three candidates for hire by memo. Instructional positions are recommended first to the EVP/CAO, who presents them next to the President.

A complete packet of application materials must be presented for the top candidate. These materials will include:

  • New Hire Notice form
  • CSI Application for Employment form
  • Resume (if applicable)
  • Cover Letter (if applicable)
  • Transcripts, required licenses and certifications
  • Telephone Reference results

An appropriate salary based on degree, background and experience are recommended in the hiring memo. A final hiring decision will be reached with administration .

The Background Check

checkThe final candidate is contacted to complete documents with which to conduct a background check. An offer is made only after the check returns. A salary agreement is reached, the successful candidate accepts the position and the New Hire Notice is drafted.

At this time all other final candidates will be informed about the outcome of the hiring process by the hiring authority. The ATS administrator is available to offer an appropriate message to these candidates. The Hiring List is completed and the final hire is noted by the hiring authority. The ATS administrator will now close the position.

New Hire Forms

The new hire form should be completed and forwarded to the approving parties prior to the new hire starting work. According to law, the I-9 Form must be completed and all documents supporting eligibility to work in the Unites States must be provided within three days of hire. All other materials must be completed and forwarded to the HR office prior to or on the first day the newly hired employee reports to work. The hiring authority will facilitate an appointment with the HR office to receive the paperwork and conduct an orientation with the new full-time employee. Copies of the recruitment process and application materials for the new hire are filed in the HR office.

Payroll Process

Once all new hire forms are received the new hire is added to payroll. New hire forms must be received by the HR office no later than the 10th of each month for payroll to be processed that month. If not received by the 10th, paychecks could be delayed until the following month.

Orientation

The newly hired employee is oriented to payroll and benefits by the HR office and to the department and other college practices by the supervisor. A checklist is provided with the New Hire paperwork to assist the supervisor in this process.

peopleSoon after the new hire's start date he/she will also be invited to attend a New Hire Orientation and Lunch along with other newly hired employees to learn about the history and culture of the College. Subjects covered include:

            1. CSI history, mission, philosophy and purposes
            2. Student Services functions
            3. Organizational culture and values
            4. College Commitment to employees, students and the community
            5. Customer service
